Child menus hide behind grandparent menus

Reported by Jacek Antonelli | January 18th, 2009 @ 01:26 AM

If a menu is near the right side of the screen, its sub-menus will open to the left of the menu instead of the right. However, they appear on a layer below other menus, so if there is a grandparent menu on the left, the child menu will be hidden behind it.

Currently, this only affects the sub-menus inside Advanced > Rendering. But, if there were other menus in a similar positioning, they would be affected too. This bug was exposed because our font is wider than the Linden's font, so the menus go further to the right.

  • Screenshot. I've put a 90% transparent overlay to show how the "Info Displays" child menu hidden underneath the "Advanced" grandparent menu.

In the original image, you can only see the bottom part of the very last item, "Vectorize Perf Test", sticking out from behind the Advanced menu.

The "Types", "Features", and "Render Tests" sub-menus are short enough that they are completely hidden -- giving the impression that they aren't opening at all, which is very frustrating for users.

You can work around it by detaching the Rendering menu, closing the Advanced menu, then opening the desired sub-menu.
